A total of 238 staff personnel responded, which gives a response rate of nearly 50 percent. The below information summarizes the findings: Seventy-nine percent of respondents were satisfied with their supervisors overall job performance. This produced a mean of 4.18 on a 5 point scale. The lowest scored area related to timely communication from higher-level administrators with 76% stating satisfaction, with a mean of 4.07. Concerning diversity on campus only 65-69% of respondents believed the University adequately addresses the following campus issues: Ageism, Disability, Racism, Religious beliefs, Sexism, Sexual Orientation. Twenty-four percent of respondents stated they have been discriminated against or harassed on campus. Of these 55 staff, 24% reported racism, 10% reported gender issues, and the majority of the rest chose other reasons. Twenty-five percent of respondents stated they were not pleased with the buildings in which they work, and 32% believe their working environment is negatively affecting their health. Of the 83 respondents who have contacted University police in the past year, 86% of them stated they received a satisfactory response. Seventy-three percent of respondents stated they believed they were safe on campus. However, 25% believed that there was not enough police presence around campus. When comparing themselves to staff at similar institutions 72% felt they have not received adequate cost of living raises. Of the 126 individuals who stated they have worked five years in their current position 45% stated they are not currently at midpoint. Eighty-four percent of staff employees are pleased with the provided insurance coverage. Seventy-one percent stating a separate coverage option for family of two with no dependents should be offered. Only 50% of the staff believe the staff senate effectively represents staff interests. 73% stated they would be interested in receiving a monthly newsletter from the staff senate. Only 24% believed that the shared governance committees kept them informed on how campus problems or issues have been addressed. /7N, - .
